Star Entertainment CEO Geoff Hogg Resigns After Four Months

Geoff Hogg has relinquished his position as temporary head of Australia’s Star Entertainment Group, after just four months in the position. This marks the third CEO to depart the company this year.

Hogg was appointed in June, becoming the third individual to lead the company in just three months. This follows the resignation of Matt Bekier in late March, who left after concerns were raised in a New South Wales investigation into Star Entertainment’s operations. John O’Neill, who replaced Bekier, also departed after less than two months as executive chairman.

Hogg was acting CEO while Ben Heap was named interim chairman, but he will now step down from this role and all other positions at Star Entertainment.

In July, it was revealed that Robbie Cooke would be joining Star Entertainment as managing director and CEO on a full-time basis, although a specific date for his arrival has not yet been determined.

The Star Entertainment board has accepted Hogg’s resignation, but his final departure date has not yet been established. Hogg will continue to collaborate with the board to ensure a smooth transfer of his executive duties.

Heap will immediately assume the role of interim executive chairman, a position he will hold until Cooke joins the group.

The celestial body stated that Hiap declined any additional compensation during his tenure as executive chairman.

Hiap departed following the star’s determination as unfit to possess a gambling permit in New South Wales earlier this month. He was granted a fortnight to react to the conclusions before disciplinary measures were implemented.

Adam Bell SC’s investigation into the star’s pervasive misconduct in Sydney revealed that the company’s transactions with the troubled VIP room operator Suncity constituted a “violation” of the star’s casino permit and exhibited a string of social responsibility shortcomings.

Shortly after the report’s release, Hiap detailed the operator’s strategies to rectify the issues identified by Bell.
