Southampton Football Club Promotes Safer Gambling Week

Southampton’s soccer team is backing Safer Gambling Week by joining forces with Better Change to give supporters access to resources and information.

The club is dedicated to promoting responsible wagering and has teamed up with Better Change for a second consecutive year. They will be setting up a temporary information booth at St. Mary’s Stadium on game day, where fans can chat with Better Change representatives about safer gambling practices.

The club will also be sharing videos from Malcolm Frame, Head of Performance Psychology, on their social media platforms during Safer Gambling Week, which takes place from November 13th to 19th. These videos will offer fans helpful advice and guidance on responsible gambling.

Charlie Boss, Chief Commercial Officer at Southampton Football Club, stated: “As a club, promoting safer gambling is our duty and part of our dedication to safeguarding our supporters and the community.”

We are deeply thankful to our collaborators and organizations such as Better Change, who are diligently striving to construct a more secure future for our supporters and the wagering industry, with accountable gaming at its foundation.

Southampton Football Club has been a steadfast advocate for Safer Gambling Week, recently joining forces with club partner Sportsbet.io to host a Safer Gambling workshop facilitated by Better Change for participants of the Saints Foundation’s mental health support program, Saints by Your Side.

David Richardson, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Better Change, remarked: “It has been a delight collaborating with Southampton Football Club for over a year now. They are a club that is proactive in leveraging their influence to propel social responsibility initiatives.

“We are actively engaged in supporting the club and the community they serve by enlightening individuals about gambling and engaging in reciprocal discussions about a subject that is often perceived as off-limits. By dismantling the stigma, we aspire to guide people towards appropriate assistance and converse with fans about gambling, emphasizing how to gamble safely from a positive standpoint.”

The club also persists in promoting the utilization of the RecoverMe mobile application, which furnishes fans with mindfulness courses and other instruments pertaining to cognitive behavioral therapy to guarantee that gambling is conducted safely and responsibly.

The application is accessible for download on the Apple App Store and Google’s Play Store. Supporters of the Saints can obtain it without charge by utilizing the code RECOVERME100.

This initiative is part of Southampton Football Club’s “Halo Effect” social responsibility program, which seeks to establish a long-term, sustainable future for the club, its supporters, and the surrounding community.
