Belgium Aims to Rein in Gambling Ads Without Resorting to Outright Bans

He perceives the latest legislation in Belgium as a mechanism to control and guide the industry toward a more beneficial route, rather than bringing it to a standstill. Commencing on the first of June, revised regulations will modify the manner in which gambling advertisements can be displayed. As an illustration, internet-based casinos will only be permitted to promote on their own web platforms.

Loski explicitly distinguished this strategy from Italy’s “Dignity Decree,” which he views as a solely political maneuver. He contends that outright bans are ineffective, citing instances such as narcotics, alcoholic beverages, and cigarettes. The objective in Belgium is to reestablish authority and steer the industry toward a more enduring trajectory.
