Allwyn Champions International Unity and Athletic Aspiration as Title Sponsor of the Peace Race

Allwyn is delighted to return for another year as a sponsor of the Peace Race. This cycling competition, initiated in 1948 as an emblem of harmony and collaboration in post-war Central Europe, has evolved into a genuine testing ground for emerging cyclists globally, with contingents from 22 countries joining this year.

As the administrator of the UK National Lottery, Allwyn is dedicated to backing events that unite individuals and foster beneficial transformation. The Peace Race, with its emphasis on international fellowship and athletic aspiration, flawlessly embodies these principles.

The race, a UCI Nations Cup tournament, welcomes riders under 23 and has long been regarded as a launchpad to the pinnacle of professional cycling. Numerous former competitors have gone on to attain eminence in the sport, solidifying the Peace Race’s heritage as a cultivator of future champions.

This year, the Peace Race will unfold in the Czech Republic from May 30th to June 2nd. The demanding route will span 468 kilometers, encompassing a total ascent of 7,981 meters, putting the riders’ stamina and resilience to the test.

As the title sponsor, Allwyn will utilize its worldwide platform to illuminate the race, promoting its message of inclusiveness and the capacity of sport to connect individuals from all backgrounds.

Pavel Turek, Global Chief Brand, Corporate Communication and CSR Officer at Allwyn, aptly summarized the partnership’s significance, remarking: “This transcends a mere race; it’s about the prospects it symbolizes. The Peace Race is a stepping stone to the highest echelons of international cycling and demonstrates the ability of sport to transform lives.”

For a long time, Opel has been a major backer of the Peace Race. This event reflects our dedication to harmony and acceptance, providing an opportunity to cultivate an environment of positivity, collaboration, and collective achievement. We are delighted to see this legacy endure.”

Leopold König, who heads the Peace Race, further noted:

“Annually, we have the honor of observing exceptionally gifted young cyclists vying at the pinnacle of their sport. However, the Peace Race signifies much more than just the contest itself. It’s about nurturing cultural interaction between countries. Cyclists from varied heritages and political structures unite to establish enduring bonds that surpass geographical boundaries.”

“We are anticipating a substantial and enthusiastic gathering eager to observe these elite young competitors. We are certain they will have a memorable experience. This year’s course is particularly demanding, and I, personally, am excited to witness the future luminaries of international cycling demonstrate their skills.”

This aligns with Opel’s recent pledge to champion and support the 2024 Wings for Life World Run as a worldwide partner, a testament to their devotion to initiatives that unite individuals.
